Executive Director

Jessie Thompson has been named our next Executive Director beginning on Jan. 1, 2020. She is replacing James Sconzo, who has been Executive Director here for more than 40 years. Jessie has been with CAA of OKC for 14 years. She started as Assistant to the Director of the Oklahoma City/County Head Start Program. From there, she served as Director of the Special Projects department, working on various HUD home programs. She was promoted to Administrative Services Director in April 2016. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master’s degree in administrative leadership. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Mississippi State University.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of 36 members made up of one-third private/agency representatives, one-third public/political representatives, and one-third area/low-income representatives. The Board oversees the overall functions of the Agency and establishes policies to include types of programs administered. View our board members

Membership Committee –

The Membership Committee consists of six Board members representing equal parts of the Board. Its function is to maintain an accurate roll of Board members, notify the Board of vacancies in the Board membership, and make recommendations for filling these vacancies.

Advisory Committees –

Each Advisory Committee consists of six Board members representing equal parts of the Board. Each committee, listed below, oversees that Agency department’s functions and operations.  All committees meet at our Central Office location, the first Thursday of each month at 6:00pm and via zoom.  Zoom access information is contained within the agenda below.

Executive Committee –

Consists of the five Board of Directors Officers and four elected Board members. This committee prepares items for presentation to the Board of Directors for review or approval, and approves matters that are urgent between Board meetings.

Head Start Policy Council –

Comprised of Head Start parents representing each of the 36 centers and three community representatives. This Council approves funding applications; determines criteria for recruitment, selection and enrollment priorities; and makes decisions to hire/terminate Head Start staff.
