Free Tax Assistance

CAA of OKC has provided free tax assistance since 2002 to residents of Oklahoma and Canadian counties.

In 2019, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program served 1,465 families with free tax preparation and returned $2,082,339 in federal tax refunds to our clients.

CAA of OKC will begin offering free tax preparation for filing 2019 taxes on Feb. 4, 2020. The service will continue until the last day of filing. The service is offered at the CAA OKC Central Office, 319 SW 25th St., and at the Canadian County Community Center at 203 N. Bickford in El Reno. Both locations will be open for assistance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week from 8am to 3:30pm.

Residents should bring the following with them to have their tax filing prepared:

 

 

 

  • Picture identification for taxpayer and spouse.
  • Social Security cards for everyone who will be in the tax return.
  • W-2s for 2019 income.
  • 1099s (1099R and 1099 MISC).
  • 1095 A, B or C for health insurance.
  • 1098T for higher education expenses and credits.
  • Last year’s tax return if possible.
  • Day care expenses with name, address, phone number, and identification number of the day care center.
  • If doing electronic deposit for a refund, please bring a voided check, bank routing number, and the account number.

Earned Income Tax Credit Guidelines

Families with one qualifying child and who earned less than $41,094 in 2019 (or less than $46,884 for married workers) are eligible for a maximum credit of up to $5,584.

Families with two qualifying children and who earned less than $46,703 in 2019 (or less than $52,493 for married workers) are eligible for a maximum credit of up to $5,920.

Families with three or more qualifying children and who earned less than $50,162 in 2019 (or less than $55,952 for married workers) are eligible for a maximum credit of up to $6,660.

Families without a qualifying child and who earned less than $15,570 in 2019 (or less than $21,370 for married workers) are eligible for a maximum credit of up to $538.
